You are not a failure! Get up and go!

Another keeper from my files.  This one is from Sumner Wemp.  Our son Mike had him as a proffesor at Word of Life and I read many of his writings for a time. 

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill.  In the room of 200, he asked,  "Who would like this $20 bill?"  Hands started going up.
He said, "I am going to give this to one of you, but first, let me do this/"  He proceeded to crumple the bill up.

He then asked, "Who still wants it?"  Still the hands were up in the air.

"Well," he replied,  "What if I do this?"  He dropped it on the ground, and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.  He picked it up, crumpled and dirty.  "Now, who still wants it?:  Still hands went into the air.

My friends, you all have learned a very valuable lesson.  No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it, because it did not decrease in value.  It was still worth 20 dollars.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and circumstances that come our way.  We feel that we are worthless, but, no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value, dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to God and those who love you.

The worth of our lives comes not in what we do, or whom we know, but by who we are.  You are special, don't ever forget it.

Remember, Moses lost his temper, killed a man, was chosen by God to lead Israel out fo bondage.  King David, played the fool with another man's wife, killed him, yet was "a man after God's own heart" and wrote so many Psalms.  Peter, James and John failed the Lord, fell asleep while He went through the agony of prayer in Gethsemane, yet they all were used of God to write part of the Bible.  Peter denied the Lord, yet was used of God to preach on the day of Pentecost when 3000 were saved. 

You will never know all the lives you will touch, the hurting hearts you speak to, or the hope you can bring. 

Father, bless this one in a special way today and let them know they are special.  In Jesus name.  He really loves you and so do I, all because of Calvary, Sumner.
