Trying to understand

On my visits to Indiana to spend time with my dear friend Denise I’ve grown to love, enjoy and appreciate the people who are in her life.  Each year I look forward to reconnecting with those in her circle.
Last evening I received a text from Denise saying that a tragedy had occurred.  A mother of 12 children lost her life in a car accident along with a son.  A daughter who was also a passenger is holding on to life by a thread.
It is mind numbing.  I keep seeing these sweet children in my mind – they make me feel so welcome when I see them once a year while attending their church.  The little girls remember my name.
I’m miles and miles away and, for someone who responds by feeling like I need to DO something, I’m struggling with an energy that I don’t know how to calm.
This is my attempt to quiet that energy and ask you to pray for this family, my friend and her husband as they try to minister to their hurting congregation and the days ahead as they all sort out ‘now what’.

**This afternoon I learned that the young sister has joined her mother and brother in heaven.
